Social Care Charity
Suggested by Angelica Sheldon-Fentem and Emma Claxton
From the Hidden Help website: "We help those referred to us by Social Services and other statutory bodies – those fleeing domestic violence, the homeless, refugees, ex-prisoners, the elderly, long-term sick and those being re-housed. We set them up with your recycled household items quickly and for free, since very often they are given an apartment with nothing in it at all - not even carpets or curtains or anything to cook with or sleep on. We can fix that with your help and give individuals and families some dignity."
From Angelica: "Judy started a charity about 15 years ago called Hidden Help where she works tirelessly to support the people who fall through the "net" of social services"
”I met Judy a few years ago when I had just moved into temporary accommodation after becoming homeless due to a long term relationship break up. I needed furniture and was met with kindness and friendship and having no car, I was offered transport home with it. All the people who work at Hidden Help's Threemilestone warehouses are volunteers. I helped out from time to time myself until I hit a period of ill health."
In 2023 Judy was awarded an MBE and The Cross of St Piran for services to disadvantaged people in Cornwall.
