All welcome

Working both as an artist and as a sailor, Stella uses painting, drawing, photography and print to distil her experience of life at sea. Having sailed over 50,000 miles, crossing both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, her interest lies in the implications of maritime history, human migration, solitude and kinship. But ultimately her practice explores her own personal history and understanding of the world.

Having spent several years working in industrial shipyards, she now translates the techniques and methodologies learned here into her practice as an artist. Recently she has spent the majority of her time sailing in Scotland as the co-owner of sailing vessel Eda Frandsen

Stella graduated with a BA in Illustration from Camberwell School of Art in 2012 where she specialised in printmaking and experimental film. She is the recipient of a CCW Moving Image Prize and a D&AD award.

In 2015 she joined the team at eXXpedition, sailing from  Brazil to Guyana, researching the impact of plastic pollution on women's health.

The work in this show is the culmination of over 10 years of studio practice alongside her travels.
