ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

'Embodied Landscapes' is the culmination of Rachael Jones' doctoral research project and visualises her thesis, involving process-driven experimental filmmaking techniques to explore the possibilities of participation in landscape spaces. The work includes diagrams, collage, photographs and films that bring together theory and practice; digital and analogue; still and moving; mind and body, which aim to imagine new ways of experiencing landscapes beyond a fixed distant view.

ARTIST BIO

Rachael Jones is an artist-filmmaker and researcher whose practice often extends to involve others in the filmmaking process. Sometimes participants are objects, both natural and constructed. As a result, her films are made up of multiple playful assemblages that rely on collaboration. Interested in what can come out of research, embodiment and participation in the landscape, Rachael’s films retain traces of process-driven interactions. She is involved in land-based, alternative and sustainable practices, using found materials and handmade processes where possible.
